Privacy
We collect what we need to prepare and deliver your report. We use it for that, we don't sell or share it, and we'll delete it when you ask.
What we collect
- From the order form: the property address or PID, the report you picked, your name, your email, what you are (owner, buyer, realtor and so on), what you're hoping to do, and how you heard about us. Only the address and email are required.
- If you email us: your email address and what you write.
- If you pay: the invoice details (name, email, amount). Card payments go through Stripe. We never see your card number.
- When you visit the site: Google Analytics records how the site is used, such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location, using cookies.
What we use it for
- To prepare your report, invoice you and deliver it.
- To answer your questions and handle corrections.
- If your report includes alerts, to email you when the rules on your lot change during the alert period.
- "How did you hear about us" and site analytics tell us which channels and pages work. We look at them in total, not person by person.
We don't use your information for anything else, or email you marketing, without asking first.
Not sold, not shared
We don't sell, rent or trade your information. It's seen only by the LotSimple team and the services below that run the business, or where the law requires it.
Where it's kept
- Netlify receives the order form.
- Google hosts our email (Gmail) and Google Analytics.
- Stripe processes card payments.
- An email-forwarding service passes mail sent to hello@lotsimple.ca to our inbox.
- Our order log is kept on our own computer.
Some of these services store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it can be subject to that country's laws.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics does. You can block them in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on, and the site works the same.
How long we keep it
Order details are kept while we prepare your report, through any alert period, and for up to two years after that, then deleted. Invoices are kept as long as tax law requires, which in Canada is generally six years.
See it, fix it, delete it
You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted (except invoices we have to keep for tax). You can also withdraw your consent, which stops any work in progress. Email hello@lotsimple.ca from the address you used, and we'll respond within 30 days.
Who's responsible
LotSimple is operated by 1255836 B.C. Ltd. and handles personal information under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act. Our privacy officer can be reached at hello@lotsimple.ca.
If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC.
